Today, we had the honor of witnessing the swearing-in of two passionate, Desmon Duncan-Walker and James Ingle, as City of Gainesville, FL – Government City Commissioners. Moments like these remind us of the power of civic engagement and the importance of having your voice heard. 🗳️✨

At the GOC, we are committed to empowering our Members to rejoin the community and make their voices count. We encourage every Member to vote, help them register, and even take them to the polls. Today was extra special as we brought our Members to experience the swearing-in process firsthand and gave them the opportunity to connect with our local elected leaders.

This is more than just a field trip—it’s about helping our Members find their place in the community and realize the power of their opinions and contributions. A huge congratulations to Commissioners Duncan-Walker and Ingle, and thank you for taking the time to inspire our Members today.

Here’s to building a stronger, more inclusive Gainesville together! 💙#CivicEngagement#GainesvilleCityCommission#CommunityMatters#MentalHealthRecovery#EmpoweringVoices

Commissioner Ingle had a powerful speech about how has empowered the working class to advocate and find their voice. He is a first term Councilman. We are inviting him to come see the GOC as soon as he settles in. Desmon Duncan-Walker visited the GOC last year and helped one of our Members keep her housing. Commissioner Duncan-Walker had apowerful speech regarding overcoming her obstacles and all of the great support she has had in her life.
