The Gainesville Opportunity Center had a great time at the International Car Show at Shop at Butler Plaza. The GOC helps adults living with chronic mental illness rejoin the community. What a fun way to break isolation by going to see some of the coolest cars ever. At the GOC, our Members feel like part of the community. Members are part of the community. The GOC is also a community. Thank you to Rotarians for helping us get involved. Rotary Club of Downtown Gainesville Rotary Club of Gainesville Foundation, Inc. I think GOC Member Joanna has picked out her dream car. This one was pretty cool, too. One thing you will notice about anyone who comes to the GOC… they are always smiling. The guts of fancy sports cars isn’t stuff our Members get to see every day. Our new Executive Director Margie Foster is with GOC Member and community advocate Scott Hesch. Rotarians like Ed Book have been involved with the GOC for years. Having our Members being able to talk to our community leaders tells us we are doing our job. It was a beautiful day, but the early morning sun made it hard to take a good picture without squinting. Cool cars and cool people! The GOC made sandwiches and we had a picnic. The right to form meaningful relationships is fundamental to our program. Look at everyone having funs, smiling, making friends and being part of our community. That is what the GOC is all about. Executive Director Margie Foster, Development Director Brett Buell, Pat Bateman and Sheriff Emery Gainey enjoy some time together. If you like classic rock, The Medicine Show band is for your. Thank you Mike Rust and crew for your performance. Joanna is one of our most photogenic Members. She also has expensive tastes. She loved the Car Show.
