The GOC is running on a skeleton crew this week and operations are continuing as usual. We are getting used to our new kitchen provided by Rotary Club of Gainesville Foundation, Inc. and other generous sponsors. We are working hard and and eating well. We even have some new faces. Tom joined us for the first time today. He jumped right into the kitchen to help us make Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Tom says he had never helped in the kitchen before. New Member Shakira also helped make lunch. We are so proud of our Members or taking important steps forward in their lives and we are grateful to all of our supporters. Philly cheese steaks take a lot of work to make and a lot of work to clean up. Members take responsibility for GOC operations. The feeling of accomplishment they get propels them into greater independence. Welcome back, Sean! We haven’t seen Sean in a while and are thankful he has returned. Comradery, friendship, and knowing you are not alone are things GOC Members gain from coming here. Susan Thomas is one of our most dedicated Members. It was Shakira’s first day at the GOC. She helped make a fabulous lunch. Look at our beautiful dining room! The floors were provided by Gainesville CarpetsPlus Colortile Floors. Jimbo is always happy to lend a hand. It was Tom’s first day today, too. Though he says he has never worked in a kitchen before, he jumped right in to help. What a team effort!
