Valerie’s journey began six years ago in Transitional Employment (TE) with GOC support. Over the years, she has worked a variety of jobs, with the GOC by her side every step of the way.
Today, Valerie is turning a new page at the animal shelter! From keeping the laundry moving to prepping treats for the pups, she is finally in a role that moves at her pace—a crucial factor in managing her anxiety.
This isn’t just “another job.” With a livable wage and benefits on the horizon, this Supported Employment position has the power to be life-changing. After years of hard work and different roles, we are all rooting for this to be Valerie’s permanent “work home.”
We are so incredibly proud of your resilience, Valerie!

Valerie washes and dries dog beds. While waiting for the loads to finish, she makes “Nutter-Butter’s” for dogs with Milkbone dog treats and peanut butter. This cute puppy is ready for someone to take her home. She was so friendly when we visited.
