Thanksgiving at the GOC! 🦃🍂

Holidays can be tough, but not at the Gainesville Opportunity Center! As part of Clubhouse International Standards, we make sure our doors are open—even on Thanksgiving—so no Member has to feel alone.

On Thanksgiving, the GOC was filled with joy, gratitude, and food! From warm plates piled high with Thanksgiving favorites to laughter shared around the table, it was a day to remember. Members and staff worked together to create an incredible meal and an even better sense of community.

The smiles you see here are the heart of what the GOC is all about—supporting each other, celebrating together, and giving thanks for the strength and kindness we share. 💛

To everyone who helps make days like these possible, THANK YOU! Your support ensures that the GOC is more than just a place—it’s a family.

We hope your holiday was filled with just as much warmth and gratitude as ours. Thank you again to our friends at Associates Realty Services for donating the turkeys, and Rotary Club of Greater Gainesville for smoking them.🧡

Lots of smiles! The turkey donation not only saved us money, it saved us a lot of prep time. Thank you to our friends at Associates Realty and the Greater Gainesville Rotary Club. Yep. The smiles are everywhere! We all have plenty to be thankful for. Food, family, and friends. There was plenty to go around. GOC Board Members Manny and Mercy Quiroga stopped by with the GOC mascot, Roscoe. Mental illness can affect people of all ages, sizes, colors, nationalities and religions. It does not discriminate. The GOC is open to anyone who is living with the disease. Members not only got to eat a Thanksgiving meal, they are taking responsibility to make sure it happens. Along with serving, Members helped with preparation and cleanup. It feels good to do something for others. Our GOC Members feel good when they help. We encourage work at the GOC. Work can also be fun! Roscoe was a hit! If it wasn’t for the GOC, a lot of our Members might not get a traditional meal. More smiles. Our Members have been through a lot. Here they have hope, and make friends.
